Gabriel Bruce London Join Date: 22/02/2012 - 23:02 |
GABRIEL BRUCE – SLEEP PARALYSIS | OUT NOW OFF MODERN RECORDS | Book with incorporated 7” EP and Download | OMR002 Gabriel Bruce’s first solo single, Sleep Paralysis is the sound of the ex-Loverman vocalist finding a new voice, with that band’s primal energies being recalibrated into an impassioned sweeping synthesizer symphony. Gabriel Bruce’s idiosyncratic crooning baritone plaintively insists ‘I’ve got this feeling I were dead’ as the song slowly edges toward climax from hushed beginnings. A shaker drops in, drums fire off in doubles foreshadowing the release of the song’s pounding beat, whilst four organ notes cycle through claustrophobically, mirroring the feeling of sleep paralysis itself. The track recalls Leonard Cohen’s late 80s synth production on I’m Your Man, yet is...

I first picked up a guitar when I was eleven and started writing songs inspired by observations and stories with an emphasis on creating my own sound. I have many influences but I've always drawn to people who have something to genuine to say.

autorotation London Join Date: 07/02/2012 - 10:13 |
We are an audio-visual band from London. We project both the sound waves and the electro-magnetic radiation at our shows. Many people work and have worked in Autorotation, but the main members are Robyn Sellman and Igor Olejar. Robyn and Igor met in the early 1990s through their humanitarian work in the war-stricken Balkans, where they were killed by helicopter fire near Sarajevo. Fortunately, both being Buddhists, they quickly reincarnated, this time in the peaceful suburbs of Toronto, Canada. Since then, they’ve been making, releasing and performing music throughout the world.

Aster Paulen London Join Date: 06/02/2012 - 16:40 |
Aster Paulen… or following the Star of the greatest, Paul and Lennon: Aster= Star (from greek); and Paulen= Paul + Lennon… we would’ve wanted Lennon first but due to phonetic reasons we had to give the first place to Paul… And so it is, Aster Paulen is a band born from the entrails of the purest British sound ever created: The Beatles, that’s why the little tribute in the name of the band… Aster Paulen looks for a harmonic conjunction of the sounds and the creation of singable and understandable melodies, with very subjective lyrics, rarely real, but never meaningless… The influences are mostly British, classic or modern, from psychedelic rock, glam rock, classic rock to British pop… The band is wide open to the possibility of experimentation, believes in mental expansion and ways of...

"Hannah and Colette Thurlow are the two women behind the fuzzy guitars and distorted feedback. As a pair they look like one of the coolest tag teams around – leather jackets, Doc Martins. The song 'Creeping' did the rounds on the internet circus a few months back and it rises into a tinny sonic wall of noise filtered in between hypnotic vocals. The five minutes in length slips you into a melancholic, sepia-tinted dream." Jamal Guthrie

Ghost Outfit Manchester Join Date: 22/01/2012 - 21:20 |
“I Was Good When I Was Young recalls one of those those primal garageland duos that have been doing the rounds since the White Stripes (such as the Pack AD and Black Keys), with a hint of Mark E Smith’s megaphone demagoguery. Cough is like hearing the din from 50s Sheffield; three minutes of metal machine music that you imagine Lou Reed’s formless opus might be like. PLO RMX is a ballad, only an Einstürzende Neubauten one, a love song soundtracked by the collapse of new buildings: you can just about make out the strum of an acoustic guitar over the hubbub. I Didn’t Know is curious, like a Billy Bragg ditty resulting from a jam session with My Bloody Valentine or Throbbing Gristle. And that’s just side one of the Young Ghosts EP. Side two’s highlights include Boy, which is one part strummy... |

"The world needs KidGloves right now. Mercury music means nothing to those who need it most if it's sombre and black. People need more than extravagant pyrotechnics at Wembley Stadium. Escapism is good, don't get me wrong. But we need something that is true and real. 'Do Something. Say Something. That means Something to me.' They speak on behalf of this, our, generation. It's time to pay attention. It'll be super. They're gonna be massive."

Sabatta London Join Date: 09/11/2011 - 18:54 |
Formed around 2006 Sabatta has released two critically acclaimed albums – Princess Raw and Emperor’s New Clothes. Having played in the UK, France and the USA as well as England and having shared bills with artists including Peter Doherty, Slaves to Gravity, Saul Williams, Zoe Kravitz, and Janelle Monae, Sabatta’s affair with the disparate and diverse has continued unabated. The cultural make up of the group has always been diverse – the line-up for the last two years being – English drummer, Brazilian bassist and British-Nigerian singer/guitarist now joined by Hungarian virtuoso Zoltan Toth on bass – that tradition not only continues but is ready to music SABATTA is seemingly on the verge!
